New Hire Announcement

Dennis Deany will join the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities as a Program Specialist on November 2, 2020.

Previously, Dennis worked for the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services as a Vocational Rehabilitation Case Coordinator and Home Service Case Coordinator since 2010. More recently, he filled a role as an Administrative Assistant for the Assistant Bureau Chief of DRS, covering Cook County.  His earlier career association with the Illinois Department of Human Services includes serving as a Residential Services Supervisor at Ludeman Center from 2006 to 2010, by which he oversaw daily operations of assigned residential homes for adults with developmental disabilities. He then had the role of Mental Health Administrator and Living Unit Administrator from 2001 to 2006 at Shapiro Center. Dennis began his career working with people with developmental disabilities in 1989 as a Mental Health Technician at Shapiro Center providing quality direct care services.

Dennis received his B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Communications from Governors State University in 2013. He received his M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University in 2020. 

Dennis is a passionate advocate for people with disabilities. He is a member of the American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD), Illinois Counseling Association (ICA), International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP) and the National Rehabilitation Association (NRA). Originally from near Kankakee, Illinois, Dennis now resides in La Grange, Illinois.
